At the age of 12 I became fascinated with Fly Fishing. I saw Joe Brooks and Lee Wulff fishing for Brook Trout in Labrador. As I grew older I found myself getting more and more involved in the sport. In the early 90’s I got my first vice and a how-to book and tied my first flies.
In February of 1997, I left my job with the Telephone Company behind for a life of professional guiding and fly tying. It has far exceeded all of expectations. I think that tying your own flies and having your fishing customers catch fish on them go hand in hand, kinda like “Peas and Carrots.”
I am happy to be a part of the Holly Fly Family and sharing my flies with other anglers. You can find me at Eastern Fly Outfitters on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and guiding the other days. I have seven grandchildren I am introducing to the sport. I am a true believer in passing on the art of fishing, as well as tying. I was honored to be a part of the book, “50 Best Tailwaters To Fly Fish.” If you haven’t got a copy, don’t be left out. I am a strong supporter of Project Healing Waters, and Rivers of Recovery. Our veteran’s deserve a time away from the everyday rigorous pressures they face and be given a time to relax and escape.
