Eric Stroup is a professional guide, fly tier, author and videographer from central Pennsylvania. He is a nationally known presenter on the subject of tactics for catching trout and his collection of published work is regarded by many in the industry as a simplification of the traditional practices taught by some of the pioneers of fly-fishing.
He has served the industry as a commercial fly tier and a retail shop owner. He’s guided in both Pennsylvania and Montana, been an instructor for the USA Youth Fly Fishing Team, a regional coordinator for Project Healing Waters, and has served on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Fly Fishing Museum. Eric is a contributing author to The Mid Atlantic Fly Fishing Guide and has had articles published in many of the industry’s leading magazines.
He has authored two books to date, Common-Sense Fly Fishing (Headwater Books) and River Pimp (White Fish Press) and has a third book set for release in 2016 with Stackpole Books. Eric was featured with Charles Meck in Practical Patterns That Catch Trout (Tightline Productions) and has appeared in works such as the Master’s Fly Box, by Dave Klausmeyer. (Lyons Press) He is a Pro Staff member of Temple Fork Outfitters, Holly Flies and Regal Engineering. Eric resides with his wife Tracey and their two son’s Jon and Luke, in Tyrone, Pennsylvania.
