Ben Rogers is owner and head guide of Chasing Tails Fly Fishing. Ben has been flyfishing for over two decades all over the country. Mostly self taught by reading teaching books and flyfishing articles, Ben practiced and trialed on some of the most technical waters in the mid-atlantic. Ben became obsessed with flyfishing techiques for spring creek trout as well as for smallmouth bass. He also became an enthused flytyer, constantly experimenting to find patterns that worked for him.
After serving in the military, Ben put his specialized skills learned in the Army to good use by working in flyshops, guiding other anglers in the great outdoors. Ben is an ambassador for Soul River, an urban focused flyfishing clothing line, dedicated to conservation of wild steelhead fisheries. Ben has also volunteered as a guide for Project Healing Waters, working with fellow wounded veterans using flyfishing as a therapeutic tool for recovery. Ben is a Patagonia pro member and Simms pro guide. Ben is also affiliated with ECHO flyfishing and Sage.
With a background in broadcast journalism from Shippensburg University, Ben has taken yet another opportunity to incorperate skills obtained towards his passion for flyfishing. Ben has been involved in a few flyfishing short films, some of which have been in Orvis’ Friday Night Flyfishing Film Festival.
Ben does presentations for clubs and conservation groups and is a contributing editor for flyfishing blogs and magazines, like On The Fly Magazine and Hip To The Strip.
